Haha, I love funny shows as much as the next person, but I also enjoy these emotional, heartwarming episodes, too. Yeah, I’ll do a few episodes of Nogidoko, but for now I want to get back to focusing on HKT and start doing some SKE as well.

Blue, you really are the best. Arigato for the Nogi subs. I am now their fan, officially. I have you to thank now for both my love of Nogi and HKT. I really feel you are important to the AKB subbing community, and I hope that wherever you are, you will know that you’ve made me smile in impossible times in my life with your subs of these amazing vids.
    Sincerely,
     Dereo san.

Now, for the song I’m going to sing to you, I’ve chosen…….
Oh wait, I’m not a member of Nogizaka :(.
This episode was so sad, but in a good way. I can only wonder what’s next for Blue?

Haha, thanks for the sweet letter! 😛 I’m glad you love Nogizaka now! My two favorite groups are still HKT and SKE, but I was able to learn a lot about the members through subbing these episodes. They’re quite fun! And I’m glad I’m able to contribute to the 48 community. 🙂

I think I’m gonna start trying to catch up on Shakariki, but I also have other plans to sub random episodes of various things. Stay tuned!

Yeah, sorry, I just wanted to finish Nogibingo!2 so I can concentrate on other things. And no, Shakariki is still going! I think it’s up to like ep.15 or something now. -.-

Thank you very much! I know that a lot of members aren’t particularly close, because they’re just co-workers, but it’s nice to see that sometimes members develop some of their closest friendships from being an idol. It was also really nice seeing members being praised just because they have a really good personality that makes people look up to and respect them, which is better in the end than being cute, I think.

Oh, definitely. I think this made me love Maimai even more. She seems like a genuinely nice person, she’s the kind of person I would look up to in real life. She’s pretty popular, right? Personally, I’d rather shake hands with someone like her than some super popular member who may not have as good of a personality.

And lol, I feel bad for saying this, but when I was subbing Sayuri’s singing part, I muted it. :X I couldn’t take it!

Muhaha! Maimai seems a bit like someone like Shiichan in that pretty much every member seems to really like her, and I’d imagine as the oldest a lot of members look up to her as well. I think a lot of fans agree with you, because Maimai is the one of the more popular members at handshakes, certainly the most popular who was never in the front three. I don’t think it hurts that she’s super cute either.

Ive stopped seeing idols as “singers” and now really only see them as “entertainers”. Yes, there are obviously idols who can sing, but they are very rare to find and the vast majority of them are mediocre at best and are usually in the groups for other reasons.

I totally agree that they’re entertainers first, and whether or not an idol is a good singer means little to me, but every time I hear an idol who’s a worse singer than me I still stop and think “really?”. I mean, they still practice every week…

Oh yeah, definitely. Idols in general aren’t known for being great singers/dancers. Their main selling point is their looks and personality. Even the top 48/46 singers wouldn’t be able to make it as an independent solo artist, I don’t think. Which is fine for me. I don’t follow the 48G for their music.

Thank you, Blue! That was a perfect way to end a series. I wish they had time to do more letters though, and I like getting to hear REAL live solo singing. And yes, Ringo was not the best choice to sing a song (I never liked that nickname for her or how she tries to force it herself lol… but anyway). Overall this series felt a little like it didn’t know what it wanted to be, or tried to do too much of everything over a short number of episodes, but some episodes were really good, like this one, the hidden cam challenge, and the 1st vs 2nd gen battle.

Being the finale, it makes me think about the future of Nogizaka. Thanks to you and other subbers all getting a lot of their shows out lately, I’m sure many people are just being introduced to the group, but it feels like this is the best it’s ever gonna be right now, and it won’t last much longer (most of the top members are 20+) so it’s a little sad too. The Ikoma and Rena moves also make me wonder if Aki-p plans to make Nogi a more inclusive part of 48G shuffles once these popular 1st gens all start graduating, because they aren’t doing enough to promote 2nd gens to take over. Well, until then, I’ll just enjoy it while it lasts!

I feel like they should still have a few years left in the tank; they’ve never had a breakthrough single, but all their singles increased sales over the previous singles and ~500,000 sold is a good number for any group besides AKB48 these days. Most of their fans like the fact that most of the members are a bit older; handshake sales are heavily biased towards the 20 year old+ senbatsu members. Their age is an issue though, because so many of the senbatsu members are nearly the same age. They’ll probably stay in the group for at least another 2-3 years but they could easily all leave the group around the same time, that’s the big problem for the management.

Yeah, I agree, but 2-3 years isn’t a lot of time to build and promote a strong new gen when they still have to spend most of their time focusing on the more popular members in order to keep up the sales and group popularity. Not having a theater makes it that much harder. And that 2-3 years is the best case scenario. If management can hang on to everyone that long, I’d be surprised.

Reika and Misa weren’t that bad, but yeah, Sayuri’s singing…oh my. Yep, I agree. This show didn’t have a concrete theme, they just did whatever. It was pretty inconsistent and way more bland than the first season, I feel. I think the xxxBINGO concept doesn’t work on any group except AKB. It’s a shame they’re wasting the NTV slot for something like this when Nogi could probably get a much, much better show with a fresh concept.

I don’t know enough about Nogi to really say, but I do agree that the age issue might become a bit of a problem. I’m also worried that their second gens aren’t popular enough to support the group when the really popular members start graduating. They’re successful now, but I worry about their longevity. But like I said, I don’t pay attention to Nogi’s handshake numbers or anything so I’m pretty much speaking out of my ass right now. ><

I love Reika’s singing. I thought it was especially good considering the emotional setting. Haha poor Ringo, she has a hard time as an idol in general, it seems. I read she was recently in a scandal for a relationship with a married man :/ There were pictures and an apology from her, saying she didn’t know he was married. I know some fans are hard on idols for stuff like that but I feel sorry for them. They’re still normal girls too. I guess it shows why the love ban is there, though. Even at her age, many idols are kind of naive and easy to take advantage of.

No, I think you’re right. You don’t need figures and statistics to see that the 2nd gen isn’t getting enough promotion and those 1st gens can’t stay forever. I’m hoping the new Nogibingo 3 makes good use of 2nd gens and helps them out.

Yeah, Sayuri’s scandal has been on my TL on twitter for like a week or two straight. I don’t have much of an opinion on it, but I do feel bad for her fans. It seems Bunshun went really far with this scandal by releasing the video on top of the pictures, and it even got picked up by mainstream media, like Viking and such. It must be especially hard considering Nogi’s clean image. But everyone makes mistakes, I don’t think she deserves to be condemned forever.

I haven’t been watching the third season, but I hope so, too!

there was about 3-4 episodes of Nemousu that had a darts competition. this was the final episode, but if you could sub those it would be cool. keep in mind it had like 2 inbetween that weren’t darts related. for example, 141005 AKB48 Nemousu TV Season 16 ep11 Final (1280×720) and episode 8 and I think there was one more. well they were fun episodes, have a look. anyways, well thanks man if you are able to, if not that’s ok. I really wanna say thanks for subbing all the hkt stuff. not many sites out there do it consistently

I haven’t watched Nemousu in forever, but I’ll definitely take a look! I’m trying to focus more on HKT and SKE these days, but I also like AKB so I might do a few videos here and there. If it’s fun enough, I’ll definitely consider doing it. Thanks for letting me know!

Hi – someone from Hello!Online sent me over as I was lamenting the unfinished Shirosubs for Nogibingo..and like a magical idol smile a blue-day is made better. Thank you for all the hard work translating, timing, and all that goes into creating the subs – appreciated!

I just started watching HKT’s Shakariki so it was additionally nice to see you’re doing subs for this show too.

I can’t leave without one request – it would be cool if you picked up Nogibingo 3 which started just a few weeks ago.
