HKT Shakariki48! EP09 – English Subs

September 15, 2014 by

Shakariki09

This episode features my oshi, the resident crybaby-slash-pyromaniac of HKT, Aoi! Also, this is completely irrelevant, but “aoi” means “blue” in Japanese, which is where my name comes from! 🙂 Anyway, where will she work? Maybe with fire? Maybe out in the forest, catching bugs? Or maybe something that doesn’t suit her at all, like at a library?

Enjoy!

Hi, you can call me Blue. I'm an independent subber. Currently working on Hyakkaten 3. Since I work alone, nothing is 100%. Feel free to talk to me, offer suggestions, etc.! My oshi is Motomura Aoi, and my favorite group is HKT. If you have any questions, please check out the FAQ first. Thank you!!

Ah, this is your oshimen, isn’t it Blue? Always a great job and thanks so much!
You used a different platform than DM for this upload, didn’t you? I like it. The video screen was bigger for me. Also, I about died laughing when she confused the Japanese word for Mammal with monster…lol. OMG that was so funny the face and expression she made! And wow, what a strange Rola reference!
I think this one is definitely a favorite of mine. She did so amazing at her job and I think it’s funny that they made HKT’s little firestarter work a water based job! I’m sure the irony was intended.
You always help me have a great weekend Blue. These subs are the calm before my work week. One quick question…. do you have any idea of a link for the AKB Janken tournament? I want to watch but don’t know of any links they’ll be streaming it. Let me know if you can. Thanks so much!

Yep, she is! 🙂 And about the platform- I prefer DM, but I’ve been having some trouble with it rejecting my content, and when I uploaded this Aoi episode, for some reason it wouldn’t process in 720p. Google Drive takes a bit longer to upload, but it seemed like a good alternative! I’m hoping OshimenVOD is up soon, I’d like to have all my videos in one neat, tidy place!

I’m glad you liked it. I feel like she’s really dumb which can turn people off, but I think she’s the bees knees! And yeah, I wanted her to work on a mountain, teaching kids how to start fires and such. It’s such a missed opportunity! In the most recent KIV stage, she even said if she won the lottery, she’d build a house in the middle of the forest. She’s so obsessed.

This person compiled a list of streams: http://48shadesofgay.tumblr.com/post/97499224605/shades-sama-please-help-me-im-hopeless-ive-been
I’m not sure how accurate they are, and ATC streams tend to jump around a lot to avoid copyright, but some of these should work. If you have a twitter, people are pretty good about passing around links that are working.

Thanks a lot! I’ve been waiting for this. Ironically, she her work is water related and not fire lol. By the way, have you seen Mio and Aoi crying in the preview of the next Odekake? They looked really frightened ><. Thanks again, keep up the good work.

But she seems to like the aquarium, so it wasn’t all awful for her. 🙂 And yeah, I heard about it. Apparently she asked a rude question to some ladies in drag (transsexuals? not sure of the right term, sorry). I have yet to see it, but I hope it’s not as bad as it seems. :/

Ah, I want to do this one as well! I’d probably be fired for constantly gawping at the animals, instead of working, though. I would have liked to see her as a park ranger, but that’s not really part time. Why do you think she would be bad in a library? I mean, she might be not so smart (even I know which kaijuu it was), but I think the bigger issue would be young men coming up and saying “Hey, you like books? Wow, I like books too, we have so much in common!”. Again, she worked pretty hard. I mean, she dropped the ball on the fish thing, but I think that was her being overly literal about which fish were “kirei”, when the man she was working with probably just meant not to pick any rotting ones, after all she seemed to do the washing fast enough. One little thing I did notice was that I’m sure Miyazono-san got married recently, because her name tag said “Tanoue” (I think). I always think I’d do horribly at customer service in Japan though, my fake smile creeps people out, thankfully I live in the UK where politeness is valued above friendliness at work.

She’s notorious for being dumb, but apparently she’s good at math. I guess you don’t have to be smart to work at a library, but she doesn’t seem the type. She seems much more happier working with animals/kids/fire.

Yeah,  Fujimaru-san was being pretty nice. Aoi is basically Slowpoke; she does things her own-pace (very slowly) and I always feel like she has no sense of urgency. I like that about her, though. But then again, she is my oshi, so I tend to overlook things I would find annoying in other people. Sigh.

Oh, wow, I didn’t even notice that. Or maybe Tanoue was her maiden name, and they just haven’t changed the tag yet?

And lol, I’m too used to overly enthusiastic, friendly Americans, so I don’t think I could live in the U.K. Although, I can see how both American and Japanese service come off fake.

Ah well, I might get a bit annoyed if someone was slow at work, but it’s not like it’s a bad thing in general. I mean my oshi seems pretty clever, but I like members like Kinchan (who’s either really dumb, or a genius, can’t work it out) as well.

I don’t think American/Japanese service is bad, it’s nice to be nice, it just kind of stuns English people, who are a bit “Wtf did I do to deserve this”. It’s all cultural anyway, people think French waiters are rude, but it’s just because French people hate it when the waiter butts in.

Yeah, I don’t think I would get on well with Aoi if I knew her in real life, lol. I’d rather be friends with girls like Madoka or Chiizu, but Aoi is perfect to me as an idol. Kinchan from SKE, right? God, I love her and her chara so much. She’s like a much weirder Kojiharu!

Yep, I hear people from the Scandinavian countries tend to avoid all interactions with strangers, which I find odd, but I’m pretty sure they feel the same about Americans. Japanese are great at service, but they’re pretty reserved in their normal lives. Best of both worlds!

Yeah, SKE’s Kinchan, I was gutted when she graduated. I swear that you could form another group out of all the awesome SKE members who graduated too early. In general I think I’d like the members I like in real life as well, but I think that’s because I tend to oshi who I think are funny or cool. Having said that, I’d probably find members like Takamina or Sasshi to be too driven by work, despite how lovely they are.

I know, SKE had such a great assortment of members, I have to wonder what SKE management is doing to make so many great girls graduate. I heard SKE members weren’t allowed to audition for outside jobs, which would be really counterproductive for girls who have other dreams outside of being an idol. It seems like there’s a grad announcement every month. 🙁

Yeah, I can see that. Takamina seems pretty fun, but I don’t think I can handle Sasshi’s personality, haha. I tend to gravitate towards calm, kind people, so I’m not sure I could handle it! So you don’t separate what you want from an idol from what you want from an ordinary person? I guess AKB is built on that concept, so it would make a lot of sense!

Yeah, it’s because of my age, really. I’m 28, so when I see a cute idol I can see that they’re cute, but it’s not really a big deal. So I tend to go for idols who are think are funny or cool, which is the same as real life, but I tend to make friends easier with people who are relaxed. So if I think I’d like members like Chori, Sae or Maachun in real life, but I’m sure someone like Yuko would be too much.

I liked this episode, but I’m not sure how I’d feel about working there. I love animals but if it seemed like they were unhappy or didn’t have enough space and freedom I’d be too sad to work there (and probably try stealing them to set them free – but how do you steal a dolphin?!).

I can see why you like Aoi, she’s cute and lovable, and I’m glad you can make fun of her… slowness too, cause it’s pretty hard to overlook that lol. When she asked about the kaijyu, the look on the trainer’s face was so priceless. First he laughed, then he was like “wait, is she really that dumb?” xD But to be fair, my kami oshi Takamina is also called dumb a lot and I really don’t think she is, otherwise she wouldn’t be able to do all the work she does. Aoi is probably just like Takamina and a lot of idols who are just naive and neglect thier studies because it isn’t necessary for their careers. But there’s a difference between that and being proper stupid and incapable of learning or functioning the same as others. Maybe the staff didn’t agree though, and that’s why they gave the pyro a job surrounded by water. 😀

Thanks again for the lives link you gave me, I’ve been busy but I watched a couple full shows so far – a new team KIV and a team H from around the period you mentioned (though I can’t tell if it’s the one you meant. I’m not really clear on how they work, do they perform the same stage for a set period of time, just with different MCs? Sorry I’m a total noob on this) I still have to download that subbed Murashige special too. Anyway, they were really good! Maybe it’s just the novelty of not knowing the music very well, because the music was never the draw to idols for me, but it was fun to watch them perform from start to finish. I can see why people watch them (even though I’m not a fan of them not singing – I’d like to see who can sing and who’s improving), you get to see a much more lively unfiltered look at who they are. It gives you a whole different view into their personalities than what’s on edited TV shows.

So far Murashige has stood out the most because I always thought she was a little too “on” all the time and annoying, but live, everyone else is basically in the same high spirits so it puts her in a different light. On TV she seems starved for attention, but live she looks more like a leader, encouraging the other girls to be themselves and have fun. Well, I’ve only watched a couple so I could be getting the wrong impression, but I’m looking forward to watching more now.

Yeah, me too. I used to love aquariums and zoos and all that, but after Blackfish came out, it made me reconsider the whole thing. And dolphins are so smart, I feel bad that they’re kept captive. Hopefully Marine World treats their sea creatures a lot better than other establishments.

Lol, I complain about Aoi a lot, I don’t think she’s perfect in anyway just because she’s my oshi. I’m one of those people who find it easier to find faults in the things they like, which is why I complain about HKT a lot, too. I honestly think Takamina is one of the smartest members in the 48G. Not book-smart, of course, but she’s smart in what really matters- in the street smart kinda way. I can’t imagine how hard it is keeping up with school and doing 48G-related activities, though. It’s easy to neglect your studies, which is why HKT is full of dumb kids, lol. Plus, they probably end up going to one of those show-business type schools that are really lenient. But out of the 4 high school graduates in HKT (not counting Sasshi and Lovetan), I think like 3 of them attend college. Education! So important!

About stages… each team performs a stage for a certain amount of time. For example, in HKT, when the first gens were still kenkyuuseis, they performed the “Te wo Tsunaginagara” stage (an SKE original stage). I believe that went on even after the first gens were promoted to Team H, so it became Team H’s first stage as well. In early 2013, Team H began performing the Hakata Legend stage, which lasted about a year. Meanwhile, the 2nd gen kenkyuuseis had their own stage, “Party ga Hajimaruyo.” HKT also began the “Pajama Drive” stage, which is in the himawarigumi format (basically a shuffle stage, with both regular members and kenkyuuseis performing). A few months ago, Team H began a new stage, “Seishun Girls” (Team K’s original stage), and the newly created Team KIV began performing “Theater no Megami” stage (Team B’s original stage). The kenkyuuseis no longer have their own stage because there isn’t enough of them, but Pajama Drive is still going on. So right now, HKT performs 3 different stages, but none of them are original. T_T And the MC layout is pretty much the same for every show, but they can mix up members (this happens a lot in those 3-5 member MCs).

But yeah, stages are a lot of fun! It’s really awesome seeing them interact with each other, and it gives you a good idea of their performing abilities. Sometimes you get to see different centers (like Aoi centering Hikaeme I Love You the other day in the KIV stage!), which is always cool. Honestly, as far as songs go, I’m not a big fan of Team H and KIV’s current stages. I think “Te wo Tsunaginagara” and “Seifuku no Me” (both SKE stages!) are more enjoyable!

And the girls definitely act differently when performing stages. It’s also nice because it puts the spotlight on the girls who rarely get the opportunity to appear on TV. You realize there are so many great girls outside the “main” girls, and it makes you wanna cheer for them. Sometimes their calls are louder than the senbatsu girls! Anyway, sorry that this was obnoxiously long, I obviously loooove stages way too much!!

Not obnoxious at all! I think it’s great that you take the time to sub and then reply to everyone 🙂 You’ve been really helpful and I like hearing your thoughts on everything. I’m the one who feels like some of my posts should have a disclaimer at the end: “thank you for reading but please don’t feel obligated to write as much I did” >.< I wish I had more to say about stages too but I'll be catching up now. I've heard SKE's are really good too, so I have a lot to watch.

About what you said before that, I think it;s normal to find faults in things you like, I'm like that too, although I think I come off more cheery and positive when I'm talking about idol stuff just because it's my one interest/hobby that is totally cute and out of character for me. I am pretty carefree though, and I like idols that are too.

I'm happy you see Takamina the same as me. 😀 That's an underrated type of intelligence IMO, and most of my favourite idols seem to be more that type than book-smart. It 's more about problem solving and observational/perceptive ability to understand people. But having said that, education is probably my biggest worry for these girls. Most of them won't go on to be hugely successful entertainers, unfortunately. Then what? I mean, if they're happy to be idols and entertainers then get married young and be housewives, there's nothing wrong with that, but they should really be better educated than they seem to be if they want more options in the future. Some of them are too young to even know better, so I hope management is at least trying to get the right message across. Well I'm getting a little off track here. Anyway, whatever their futures are, what I love most about the 48G is just the chance it gives young girls to chase their dreams, even if they do go back to a normal life afterwards, at least the experience is something they'll never forget.

I’m happy to hear that! I don’t post on Stage48, and most of my twitter conversations are not about idols, so this is a good place to have civil discussions about things. I like hearing what you have to say, too! You bring up a lot of interesting points.

It’s good that you’re positive. I feel like most fans can get quite negative at times, especially in regard to what the management is doing, and I feel like that can get tiring after a while. Haha, now I’m imagining that your room is full of death metal posters, but inside your night drawer you have an assortment of cute idol photos. 🙂

Yep, Takamina might not know how to string together simple English sentences, but her intuition and critical thinking skills are up there. Yeah unfortunately, it seems like the girls are hellbent on surviving in the entertainment industry after grad (which isn’t a bad thing) that they don’t make backup plans. But like you said, most of them are pretty enough to land wealthy husbands, lol.  And you’re right, sometimes the experience of being in the 48G is enough. I hope all our oshis can find happiness after grad!

Wait, stay out of that drawer! That’s… I’ve never seen those before in my life. *blush*

Nope, no death metal posters, but now that I think about it, maybe it wouldn’t seem out of character at all since my room is already full of stuff that don’t seem to go together: lots of science books, games, liquor cabinet, backpacking gear, children’s toys left about… so I doubt idol pictures would look any more out of place! I guess my character is, that guy who enjoys everything, or at least tries to.

Yeah, I like these little chats with you for the same reasons. 🙂 I don’t use stage48 either, this is the only place I really talk about idols at all (even though I tend to derail into other things lol) so it’s nice to see what others think without the negativity and drama that forums sometimes have.

I hide my 48 CDs in my bookcase, behind all my educational books. I don’t think anyone has found them yet!

Sounds like you have a lot of hobbies! I sometimes wonder how people who have a variety of interests can balance that with following the 48G. I feel like most of my time is spent following them, haha.

Yeah, forums can get too overwhelming sometimes. If you ever want to talk to more 48 fans, you should join twitter (if you haven’t already). It’s a good place to talk about idols and hear what other people have to say without it being too serious!

Yeah, I sort of bounce around between hobbies on different days/weeks. One week there’s a bunch of idol subs so I watch them all and catch up on the news, then there’s a bit of a dry spell so I catch up on something else for a while. For that reason, I’d probably be a bad twitter… twitterer? tweeter? Well anyway, I wouldn’t be on it all the time so it would probably annoy people if they thought I was ignoring them. I could sign up just to follow news and releases though, and try to keep the number of people I chat with low so it’s manageable.

It’s kinda fun that Aoi get’s to work in Aquarium, hence her name – “Blue”, even though she is the resident firestarter of HKT 🙂   I really liked her SSK poster this year and was really happy she ranked in 🙂  Although she isnt my Kami, she is on My Oshi list for HKT 🙂

Also… the way the Aquarium had vending machines for feeding the Animals, is really cool, I havn’t seen this before… 🙂

No problem! And yeah, although it didn’t fit in with her pyromaniac image, it does fit quite well with her name. Me too, I was so convinced she wasn’t going to rank after Future Girls that it was a pleasant surprise when her name was called. Who is your oshi? I feel like people who like Aoi have the same taste in members as me, so it’s always cool to compare!

Yeah, that was an interesting concept. I have to wonder how they regulate how much feed each seal gets, though. Theoretically, one seal could eat a lot more than the other seals and balloon up, especially in the summer when so many kids are around.

Oh hi, it’s been a while! I hope you’ve been doing well! And yeah, I missed subbing Aoi-related videos, I’m glad she got her own episode!

About the stages… Aoi hasn’t been performing much lately, and in August there were hardly any stages at all. The girls were too busy with the Tokyo Dome concerts, I think. But from what I can remember from the most recent stages, if Aoi won the lottery, she would build a house in the middle of the forest because her dream is to be able to climb out of her second-story window onto the roof and lay there. She thinks the city air is too dirty for that, lol. Over the summer, she lost 3kg in one day because she didn’t have much of an appetite. She’s been hanging out a lot with her 5 y/o sister. She a bit pissed at her family b/c they went somewhere on vacation without her. She wants to go to the aquarium at night. Sometimes she can’t believe she’s 17 because a lot of her friends are in a relationship, it makes her feel older. There’s a lot more, but these are just off the top of my head. And unfortunately I don’t watch Team H stages, so I can’t give you any new info about Chiichan, Natsu, or Meru, sorry. I should start because Chiichan is my second fav, but I’m just not a big fan of K2. :/

Oh…right! the Tokyo Dome concerts I forgot that.

She really is nature-born child! how cute is that idea? lol but I really like her idea want to build house in the middle of the forest cause the air is clean and it’s gonna be colder too compare to the city but laying on the roof is kinda amazing and weird at the same time, haha

Sugo! 3kg in just one day!? is she sick or something beside losing her appetite ? oh! sometime in her G+ she also mention about her imouto. She got left out by her family? I know that feeling ..used to happened to me all the time and indeed it really piss you off . Aquarium at night? that is so sweet and romantic! She start to feel that too huh…they are that age where they want to go on a date and such.

Oh! cause the only info I can get about them is through shows and G+

Thanks, Blue. I was looking forward to the subs on this one and you delivered lightning quick, as usual. And don’t worry about slowing down once summer ends – your subs have been the fastest around, so a no one can begrudge a slowdown on your part.
I have grown fond of Aoi, but still tend to gravitate towards the variety types, though I don’t see any of them appearing on Shakariki any time soon. It’s a shame (at least to me) that the cutesy types seem to get most of the attention in Japan, leaving the fans of young variety hopefuls like Boss and Yukachan wanting more. There are exceptions, of course, but that seems to be the general rule.

      Thanks for understanding. 🙂

I get what you mean, and I think that’s most noticeable in HKT fans, unfortunately. They (maybe I should be using “we,” lol) tend to go for cute, orthodox idols, whereas with SKE fans, I feel like they’re a lot more open to oshi-ing variety-oriented and perhaps not conventionally pretty idols like Dasu and Kaotan. But I also feel like Boss is getting quite a bit of attention, too; she’s on Goboten a lot, and together with Akiyoshi, they get good MC work as well. Same with Chiyori back when she was in HKT. Sure, she may not rank, but she was a constant fixture on HKT’s variety shows, like Hyakkaten, Odekake, Variety48, and Tonkotsu. So I feel like they do get attention, but just in different ways. And I think the reason why Boss and Akiyoshi haven’t appeared on Shakariki is because they’re so young. We haven’t seen Meru or Nako or Miku for the same reason. I’m hoping HKT gets the next crown shows so more variety members, especially from the 2nd gens, will receive more attention!

Awesome work, as always. She’s surprisingly funny.

Question> Aidol did an episode of Sashihara no Ran but doesn’t seem to do any more. Do you know anyone who would consider working on that? It’s the kind of show where you don’t really have to have someone subbing it all, just an episode here and there since they’re stand alone like that. Really different and interesting show so I’m always looking for subs, in vain lol.

I have no idea, I haven’t seen anyone working on it, though. Sashihara no Ran is a bit difficult to sub because they sometimes talk about pretty complicated stuff. It’s a good show and it’s really interesting, but yeah, the subs might be a bit difficult to do. Have you asked AIDOL if they’re continuing with it?
