March 14, 2014 by

Odekake18

On this episode, the members head to…surprise! Another shopping district! And like in every episode, they find delicious things to eat and work on their food reporting skills. Oishii!

This time however, they’ll be joined by a special guest. Who could it be?

The cool Madoka is the center this time around.

Enjoy!

Yay, glad you found my blog! 🙂

I’ll continue subbing Odekake until ep.31, but I’m not sure if I’ll be doing any of the more recent episodes. Everything until ep.48 (the last episode of 2013) should eventually get subbed, though. 😀 I can’t believe how long Odekake has been running considering it’s an idol show. Amazing, really!

It’s pretty surprising because from what I’ve seen, not many people enjoy Odekake. I think a lot of fans (or at least the international ones) prefer Hyakkaten or Tonkotsu Maho Shoujo. But then again, Odekake is sponsored by a big company like Lotte, which would explain a lot.

I know I’m probably in the minority here but…I don’t think he’s that funny. I actually think the whole senpai-kouhai system is bad for Japanese TV, too many people getting by on the fact that they were famous 20 years ago while teenage idols get all the laughs. Talking about the sponsors though, if Lotte weren’t sponsoring it, the Fukuoka Chamber of Commerce should take over, this show is surely good for business.

Are you talking about Kenbou Tanaka? I agree, he was really obnoxious and the fact that he didn’t use honorifics with the shopkeepers really annoyed me for some reason. I’m not from Fukuoka so maybe I’m biased, but I’ve not even heard of this guy before. I wish they got someone like Hakata Hanamaru Daikichi!

Yeah, I also believe Odekake airs in Tokyo, which is super great for visibility since a lot of idol shows tend to be local. Lotte is an awesome sponsor to have!

Yeah well I always try to be as polite to shopkeepers as I can, because I’m a student so I spend my evenings doing the same kind of thing. I didn’t notice because I only understand maybe 40% of the spoken Japanese on these programs, especially if someone has a dialect. Talking of locality, I never knew there was such a thing as a local TV station until I started watching 48G programs, but i guess it makes sense given how decentralised Japanese society seems to be in general.

Technically, I don’t think you need to use honorifics with shopkeepers since they’re supposed to be serving you, but I feel like it’s rude if you don’t. Kenbou just seemed way too arrogant, tbh. :/

Yeah, I had no idea until I began watching idol shows. It’s a pretty weird concept, but I guess even in the U.S. we have state/region-only programs.

Yeah, this was unfortunately a bad case of a comedian totally taking over a show. It would be somewhat ok if he was actually funny, but he wasn’t… 🙁

The next episode should be much better, though! 🙂
